Victoria Sweatman B.Kin., RYT 1000Hr

"As a yoga teacher, my goal is to facilitate the modification of yoga practices to meet each individual’s needs and promote wellness. I aim to create an environment that is conducive for self-healing and allow students to self-express. I have a strong passion to share the benefits of therapeutic-oriented yoga to all. Allow me to guide you to the start of alleviating symptoms and managing chronic conditions."

Victoria’s interest in health and human movement developed while completing a Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Manitoba. Her understanding of anatomy and biomechanics play a large role in her yoga practices and she currently holds a 1000Hr Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certificate through Yoga Alliance and is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

At the age of 21, Victoria was diagnosed with a Giant Cell Tumor in her elbow. Victoria underwent two intense surgeries at ages 21 and 24. She has had a very favourable outcome and now has a prosthetic radial head in her elbow. Realizing at a young age that “bad things can happen,” Victoria began pursuing alternate methods of healing with a whole-body approach. This led her to pursue studies in yoga.

In December 2015, Victoria returned from intensive yoga studies in Chennai, India. While there she practiced in the traditional Sri. T. Krishnamacharya lineage alongside three Master Yoga Therapists.

Victoria also holds a Level 1 & 2 Thai Massage Certificate from the Thai Massage College of Toronto. Combined with her yoga therapy, Victoria is able to offer a focused, hands-on approach to assist students in attaining muscular releases, deeper stretches and enhanced relaxation. Victoria is also an avid runner maintaining a healthy lifestyle while she enjoys training for half-marathons, cross-country skiing, biking, swimming and anything outdoors.
